For Owners and Operators of workboats and other small motor or sailing craft, the safety of vessel, crew and passengers is of the highest priority, and will be subject to periodical scrutiny by the relevant regulatory authorities, in addition to prospective Charterers or Insurance Underwriters. In order to achieve the highest standards of safety, the vessels should be built and maintained to a satisfactory standard, and crewed by trained and competent personnel.
A Adamson & Company undertake condition, valuation and damage surveys on all types of workboat and small craft including inflatable or rigid motor launches, and motor and sailing vessels regardless of size. This work may be carried out on behalf of Owners, Charterers, Prospective purchaser or vendor, or Insurer, and in all cases is completed independently and without prejudice.
Small commercial vessels, workboats, pilot boats and police craft operating in designated United Kingdom waters may be subject to compliance with one of the following Codes of Practice:-
The Safety of Small Commercial Motor Vessels ("Yellow" Code)
The Safety of Small Commercial Sailing Vessels ("Blue" Code)
The Safety of Small Workboats and Pilot Boats ("Brown" Code)
The Safety of Police Craft (A, B, C & D Codes)
Our experienced surveyors are registered examiners for the above Codes of Practice, also being involved in plan appraisal and scrutiny and approval of stability information.
A Adamson & Company surveyors are registered under the British Waterways' Boat Safety Scheme, applicable to craft operating on inland canal waters within the United Kingdom, and carry out safety surveys on a diverse range of craft from houseboats to floating restaurants. On behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, we also conduct periodical survey and certification of Class V passenger vessels, which operate on inland waterways and canals.
